This presentation is an example of a videoconference of Medical Nutrition Therapy by TNT (TeleNutrition Therapy, Inc). Here, a registered dietitian (RD) engages a young diabetic woman in a followup visit.
Medical Nutrition Therapy is disease assessment from a nutritional perspective and a lifestyle modification program to address that disease. Lifestyle modifications include diet, oral supplements, exercise, self-testing, illness self-management and other activities to improve and maintain wellness.
This session shows what the client sees from video camera. It demonstrates the use of graphics (power point slides) and physical modeling (where to stick finger for glucose monitoring). Notice the way the instructor uses "hooks" to link patient goals to positive behavior and negotiate step-wise activity and dietary changes in a charming and persuasive way. The skill demonstrated is extraordinary and unique to these RD/disease managers.
